Greetings from Aitkin!  Aitkin has grown from a stop on the river to a current population of 2,000 of the most interesting people you will ever meet.  Summer, autumn, winter, spring - enjoy the lakes, wilderness, trails, family attractions and community all year round.  Come “Up North” for a close-to-home vacation get-a-way!

A year around Christian Camp and Retreat Center serving groups of 5 - 350.  Big Sandy Camp is accredited with both the Christian Camp and Conference Association. The camp provides a wide range of activities and full service accommodations for every season.

As a year round retreat and camp facility, Covenant Pines Bible Camp exists to reach people of all ages with the gospel message of Jesus Christ through an experience in a Christian environment located in a natural setting.  Please visit our website for more information.

The McGregor area Historical Society was formed in 2003.  The purpose is to provide a place where information specific to McGregor, Tamarack, and the surrounding 13 townships can be stored for use by people wanting to do research or satisfy their curiosity. Research Fees: $5 per 1/2 hr. of research for members, $10 for non-members.

Photocopies: $.25 per page.  Scanning, copying or e-mailing photos: 8x10 color $4, 8x10 B&W $3.  Please note that if you become a member, our research fees are halved!

The McGregor Lions Club is backed by the world's largest service organization, Lions Club International, and is one of more than 70 clubs in local District 5M-9.  For over 40 years, our club has planned and conducted a variety of community and humanitarian projects. The annual Athletic/Academic Banquet to honor local school scholars and athletes has been a major project almost since our beginning. Other equally important projects are Sight Conservation, Hearing, Diabetes Awareness, Citizenship, Educational, Environmental, Recreational, International and Social Services, Youth Exchange, and Drug Awareness.  We raise money through community activities such as the Corn Feed, Auctions, Bingo & other gambling.  The money raised is returned to the community.

Our Clubhouse is located on the south shore of Lake Minnewawa, just 3 miles east of Willey's on County Road 6, now named Goshawk St.
Our Annual meeting is usually the second saturday of July at 10 a.m. at the clubhouse. All members are encouraged to attend.
We host a Summer Fun Day for the kids, usually the third saturday in July. Bring your kids, grandkids, neighbors kids, etc. Fun day!!!

Trails cover 170 miles and travel through tamarack turf, including both wooded and open areas; connecting Mille Lacs Lake and Big Sandy Lake near Savanna Forest in Aitkin Co. with choices for stopping at several MnUSA Associate Members business establishments around McGregor, or at our Sno-Flyers' trailside rest near Lawler.
