Our volunteer committees offer members the opportunity to be an important part of the direction of each event and its impact on the community. Without membership involvement, our events would not be successful. The committees are structured to be flexible and fit anyone's schedule. Please review the following list of volunteer committees and see the difference you can make.

Building & Utilities Committee - Board of Directors participation only |
|
- Responsible for all aspects of utilities at the Chamber Office and Information Booth.
- Read meters, order propane on a regular basis and give such instructions to the building staff.
- Recommends: electrical, water/sewer, & telephone services.
- Recommends: building/utilities improvements.

Events & Retail Promotions Committee |

- The most volunteer-intensive area with responsibility falling on all Chamber Directors.
- Events currently include: WinterFish, McGregor Area Lakes Fishing Tournament, Let's Go Golfing, Wild Rice Days.
- Each event will have a separate committee and meet as scheduled by the committee and recruits volunteers as needed.

Executive Committee - Board of Directors participation only |

- Meets when the Full Board decides an issue would unnecessarily take an extended period of time from the Full Board.
- Makes recommendations to the Full Board on various issues.
- The Full Board can move that the Executive committee make a decision on issued that have been delegated to them.
- Makes decisions when it is impossible or impractical to involve the Full Board.

Financial Audit/Review and Salary Committee - Board of Directors participation only |

- Recommends salaries for paid staff (currently: Chamber Coordinator, Tourist Building Attendant) by the December Board of Directors meeting each year. The committee may also be involved in pay schedules for other prospective employees and/or contracted labor.
- Collects and recommends bids for large projects (excluding annual events) the Chamber undertakes.
- Responsible for contracting an outside business independent from the McGregor Area Chamber of Commerce to conduct an annual financial audit or financial review.
- The committee should review the financial reports and make sure all reports are in order before the annual meeting.

Marketing and Publications Committee |

- Develops programs to market the McGregor Area Chamber of Commerce and retail area.
- Publishes, markets and distributes event advertising, event schedules, various advertising booklets, maps, guides, place mats, etc.
- Responsible for all press releases.
- Host the Chamber Internet site.

Progressive Committee |

- Recognizes the growth activities of Chamber members.
- Welcomes new businesses; Coordinates the "Welcome to the McGregor Area" package to welcome new businesses to the area.
- Conducts the annual Membership Drive; encourages membership renewals.
- Coordinates and conducts the Annual Membership Dinner.
- Solicits nominations for the Board of Director vacancies; makes sure all candidates join or are current Chamber members.
