Choose your natural wonder:
Walleye, muskie, northern pike, crappies, and more are waiting for you in one of our many recreational lakes. Post a picture of yourself trying to land a lunker—bonus points if it includes a fish!
For some exercise, sunshine, and adrenaline, launch your canoe, kayak, or paddleboard on one of McGregor’s three adventure-ready rivers. Let’s see your view from the boat!
Visit Savanna Portage State Park and and hike hardwood forests, grasslands, and bogs to snap a photo at the Continental Divide to get this coveted decal. Here, the water to the west flows into the Mississippi River and the water to the east flows into Lake Superior.
Experience McGregor’s natural wonders by ATV—enjoy the scenery, observe the wildlife, and visit neighboring communities. Show us your ride on the McGregor area’s over 200 miles of ATV trails.
Drive through or go for a hike at Rice Lake National Wildlife Refuge and share what you find. Teeming with everything from waterfowl to warblers, this is truly a birders paradise—but you might catch a glimpse of some of McGregor’s other wildlife: porcupine, deer, racoons, or bears.
Get wet! Show off your waterskiing, tubing, or surfing skills while boating on one of our recreational lakes.
Take in the most spectacular view around on top of the 94-foot Big Sandy Overlook Tower. Take a selfie while you’re up there!
Camp
There’s a lot to explore, so you might want to plan to stay awhile. Enjoy s’mores and campfire stories at Savanna Portage State Park, Sandy Lake Dam and Recreation Area, or at any one of McGregor’s numerous campgrounds.
